Faculty Recital in celebration of the Valparaiso University 150th Anniversary

Faculty organist John Bernthal will present four movements from The Hildegard Organ Cycle in a recital at Valparaiso University's Chapel of the Resurrection. In addition to standard works the program will include these excerpts from the cycle: II. The Construction of the World - V. Places of Purification - VI. Meaning of History - VIII. The Effect of Love.

Three excerpts from Merton Songs at Wolf Trap

Baritone Keith Phares will present three songs from Merton Songs in a winter Discovery Series concert performed jointly with mezzo-soprano Patricia Risley and pianist Kim Pensinger Witman. The program will include "Wisdom," "Reduced To This" and "Song for Nobody" (poems by Thomas Merton).

Pre-Concert Talk by Frank Ferko on the piano work Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus by Olivier Messiaen

Stanford Lively Arts presents pianist Christopher Taylor in a performance of the complete cycle Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus in observance of the Messiaen Centenary. Commentary by Frank Ferko on this monumental piano work will precede the concert.
- Dinkelspiel Auditorium, Stanford University, Sunday, February 22, 2009. The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m., and Mr. Ferko's pre-concert talk will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Haarlems Koor Lokaal, in concert

Motet for the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Motet for the Nativity of the Mother of God, and Motet for the Annunciation from Six Marian Motets will be presented by the Dutch chamber choir, Haarlems Koor Lokaal, conducted by Wim Dijkstra:

Music for Holy Week

The Swansea Bach Choir, conducted by John Hugh Thomas presents French choral music and Frank Ferko's Motet for Passion Sunday:

New Music for Children's Voices

Volti and the Piedmont Children's Choir will join forces to present this concert which will include O factura Dei and O verbum Patris from The Hildegard Motets:
