A Festival of Carols for mixed chorus and harp

Renowned saxophonist, Frederick Hemke will perform Nebulae in a mid-winter concert

Pre-Concert Talk by Frank Ferko on the Organ Music of Olivier Messiaen

Organist Dame Gillian Weir will mark the centenary of the birth of Olivier Messiaen with an all-Messiaen concert preceded by a 30-minute talk by Frank Ferko on Messiaen's life and organ music.
- Memorial Church, Stanford University, Wednesday, January 30, 2008. The pre-concert talk will begin at 7:15 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8:00 p.m. p.m.

Motet for Passion Sunday in the U.K.

Commotio, with cellist Rosie Banks, conducted by Matthew Berry, will launch the release of their most recent recording, titled Night, in a concert of works from the new compact disc. The program will include Motet for Passion Sunday.

Beautiful Voice

The April Concerts of Bella Voce, Chicago's Premier Chamber Choir, conducted by Andrew Lewis, will present selected motets from The Hildegard Motets

World Premiere of Merton Songs at Carnegie Hall

Nathan Gunn and Julie Gunn, joined by colleagues in video and dance, will present a multi-media concert on the life of monks which will include the world premiere of Merton Songs, settings of five poems by the Trapppist monk, Thomas Merton, composed for the Gunns. The program will also include the Ferko setting of Merton's famous poem "For My Brother: Reported Missing in Action, 1943."

Laudate Dominum for unaccompanied AATBB choir

The Compline Choir, conducted by Peter Hallock, will include Laudate Dominum in the Service of Compline on the evening of the Second Sunday After Pentecost. The work was commissioned by The Compline Choir and first performed one year ago.

The Young New Yorkers' Chorus, conducted by Michael Kerschner, will present selected motets from The Hildegard Motets

Duologue Performs Constellations

The Santa Fe-based ensemble, Duologue (Susan Morris De Jong, flute and Benjamin Silva, guitar), will present the five-movement work, Constellations, commissioned by and composed for Duologue:

Organist Sarah Mahler Hughes will perform Ferko's Livre d'Orgue (commissioned by the American Guild of Organists for the 2006 National Convention) as part of her concert program at the Pine Mountain Music Festival in Michigan:

All-Ferko Mid-Day Concert at Trinity Cathedral

Carson Cooman, composer and organist, will present a mid-day organ concert, consisting entirely of works by Frank Ferko at Trinity Cathedral in downtown Pittsburgh. The program will include: Visions of Eternity, Toccata on Psalm 96, Variations on a Hungarian Folk Tune and Angels.

The Stanford University Singers, conducted by Robert Huw Morgan, will present A Festival of Carols for soprano soli, mixed chorus and harp.

Festival of Lessons and Carols at Stanford Memorial Church

The Stanford Memorial Church Choir and Stanford Chorale will join forces on two successive evenings to present the annual Festival of Lessons and Carols. Included in the program will be Ferko's setting of Adam Lay Ybounden for unaccompanied mixed voices.

Rejoice! O Nations

Three of Frank Ferko's Marian Motets will be presented in an extraordinary program of holiday music from around the globe, performed by Oxford's premiere chamber choir, Commotio, conducted by Matthew Berry. All of the works on this program were composed in the past 15 years by a variety of composers, including Lukaszwski, Copi, Mäntyjärvi, Sixten, Allain, Bednall, Whitbourn, and Henry Howard. The three Marian Motets in this program are: "Motet for the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary," "Motet for the Nativity of the Mother of God," and "O frondens virga."

Christmas With the Choral Arts Ensemble

The Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester, Minnesota presents the world premiere of a new work for unaccompanied chorus, titled The Snow Lay on the Ground. The 40-voice ensemble, conducted by Michael Culloton, will give three performances of this concert in December:

St. Mark's Second Sunday Organ Recital Series

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Berkeley, will present Frank Ferko in concert on the Flentrop organ. After a hiatus of several years, Mr. Ferko will return to the organ loft to offer a program of his own works, composed over the past 20 years.

Pre-Concert Talk by Frank Ferko on the piano work Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus by Olivier Messiaen

Stanford Lively Arts presents pianist Christopher Taylor in a performance of the complete cycle Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus in observance of the Messiaen Centenary. Commentary by Frank Ferko on this monumental piano work will precede the concert.
